I'm regularly asked about the tools that I like to use when I cook with my little one and the zig zag slicer is by far our favorite. Honestly, most of the kid-specific cookware are more toys than tools, but this Montessori-style slicer is sturdy and easy for little hands to hold. Paired with a small cutting board, L uses it to slice soft produce including bananas, cucumbers, zucchini, kiwi, strawberries, avocado, and more. She also likes to cut soft bread and cheeses too—anything she can do to really be involved in meal prep is fun in her book.
She's had it since she was about 16 months old and while I still have to help her position it—she always wants to use it parallel to the food, rather than to slice across which is so much easier—it's something she regularly asks to use.
Other tools we love? We have a mini whisk and a mini spatula that are sized just for her (but made by regular cookware brands and thus not toys), but otherwise, she uses my regular full sized tools...and her hands, of course!
