We just started introducing our sweet baby to solids and I wanted to share some of our favorite products that are helping during this phase. One of my favorite things about baby-led weaning is that you actually don't need much to get started—other than a willingness to let baby explore foods safely—though a few great products can help. Please chime if you love a different cup or highchair, as I'd love to hear from you!
Highchair: I much prefer highchairs that help baby to sit up straight, rather than ones that have a more reclined position. We're on our second time around with our Stokke Tripp Trapp and we still love it. It actually has been somewhat of an issue for our older daughter that we took her chair back, since she'd been using it as a stool, so I can totally see why some families end up with two of these! We originally didn't have the tray, but after cleaning mashed food off of the side of our wooden dining table proved impossible, we added it to our set.
Water cups: It's recommended to start offering water in a sippy cup when you start solids, so we alternate between the Avent Training Cup and the 5 ounce Pura Kikki Baby Bottle with the Sipper Spouts. I love the Avent cup because it's so easy for tiny hands to hold. But since I know that it won't last forever—and since I didn't want to have to buy cup after cup—I opted to invest in a small 4 ounce Pura. It's stainless and super durable, and I plan to use this well through toddlerhood.
Spoon: You might remember that I just did a post on the Best Silverware for Toddlers. Well this is my favorite baby spoon from Green Eats. It's soft and just the right size for tiny mouths. We're still using the same set that we got for our first kiddo 4 years ago, so they hold up well.
Bibs: At this point, I prefer cloth bibs over silicone since I can use them to wipe baby's mouth and they wash up so easily. We have a few of the Bumkins bibs shown above (which I don't think they even make anymore) and I have been meaning to get a set of these to add to the mix.
