Serving food on a stick is one of those toddler-feeding tricks that I didn’t believe until I tried it. My girl loves food being served on a stick and I bet your little one will too. This shortcut dinner idea is sort of like a deconstructed sandwich with no-cook ingredients that are flavorful and easy to eat. Here’s what’s in the meal:
- Turkey and Veggie Sticks: Herb-Roasted Applegate Turkey, halved sungold tomatoes, and sliced zucchini
- Roasted sunflower seeds
You could easily add some cheese to the sticks if you want to incorporate some dairy (and calcium) or offer chopped nuts like walnuts or cashews instead of the sunflower seeds, which tend to be a little softer for toddlers to chew as compared with a nut like an almond. This sort of meal, which kind of feels like cheating to me, is the sort that tends to go over really well. The ingredients are clear, there is a nice mix of flavors and textures, and there’s just a little bit of fun from the sticks.
