I believe that this election isn’t actually about politics. It’s about our collective humanity. Our ability to have empathy and care about people who are not ourselves, not like our own families. That matters. That matters because without empathy, how do we create a fair, just, and stable world that we actually want to live in? That we want our kids to live in? How do we teach our kids about right and wrong if we aren’t modeling it ourselves or calling it out when we see it?
I realize that in order to have a functioning, just society, we all need to care about more than one single issue, more than our single family.
I believe our country can be a lot better for a lot more people—including BIPOC—than it has been for the past four years.
I believe in our fundamental right to safe water, air, and food.
I believe in science, facts, telling the truth, and the basic right to safe and affordable healthcare.
I believe that women and their mental health has been trampled in 2020 and we deserve so much more.
I know we have the ability to disagree and still care about each other and be kind.
