There are so many wellness plans, detox bootcamps, food challenges and diet “rounds” available now. Their marketing always frames these projects as “lifestyle changes,” but we’re calling them what they really are: Diets. That love to target moms! In this episode, we explore whether diets, food restrictions or “lifestyle plans” can ever be compatible with family life. Plus, what to look out for if you’re exploring one of these newer plans—like the inevitable crash that comes after the honeymoon period, the guilt, and the ramifications that can reach the rest of your family.

She was inspired to try this after reading this Atlantic article by early education expert Erika Christakis, and How to Be A Happier Parent by KJ Dell’Antonia, which has an excellent (realistic!) chapter on kids and screens. Because you guys, many of us parents are using our phones for hours (and HOURS) a day without even realizing it! Listen to hear about the giant changes this has made in her life — she’s down from 5-6 hours of phone usage a day to 2 hours or less most days. (And that’s without following the Moment Bootcamp program 100 percent perfectly — proof that it’s always better to figure out what works for you when trying to make a big lifestyle change, rather than beat yourself up for not obeying someone else’s plan.)
