We drink a fair amount of hot cocoa in the winter, especially on weekend afternoons, and I recently shared my lower sugar take on the classic treat with Recipe.com. Hot cocoa made this way makes a pretty delightful snack—with the protein from the milk and the flavor from the cocoa—and my girl has been drinking it since she was about 1.
I didn’t start letting her add marshmallows until recently since I wanted her to learn to like the cocoa flavor on it’s own, but now she usually chooses to have 3 or 5 mini marshmallows alongside her mug—not in the cocoa, thank you very much. It’s an easy-to-make treat that instantly perks up even the grayest winter day.
