Our house is very much in the holiday spirit and we’ve already started baking, starting with a giant gingerbread lady and these Oatmeal Jam Bars. We’re equal opportunity cookie people, but these jam bars were a recent favorite when I packed them as a snack during a snowy morning playdate. They basically taste like a cross between a fruit and grain bar and a linzer cookie, with a fruit-filling that’s as simple as opening a jar of your favorite jam. I love this recipe because the crust is incredibly easy to work with and just gets pressed into the pan, and because there’s very little added sugar—the jam does the rest.
These bars make for a great snack (alongside milk or hot cocoa!) or they would be a nice addition to a cookie exchange since they are a little less expected. Find the full recipe over on the Better Homes and Gardens food blog and happy almost December!
