Fresh Watermelon Sorbet

Transform fresh watermelon into a great dessert or hydration strategy to share with the kids!

To make this recipe, you just need watermelon. I prefer seedless since you can blend it up without worrying about having to discard the seeds.

Ingredients Needed:

Place the cut pieces of watermelon into a gallon sized freezer bag. Freeze for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.

Step 1.

Remove from freezer and, if it was in the freezer for more than 2 hours, let sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes to thaw a little.

Step 2.

Add frozen watermelon to the bowl of a food processor. Process, adding warm water as needed to help the mixture move around, as needed.

Step 3.

Process until smooth. If it’s having a hard time blending, walk away and do something else for a few minutes so it can thaw a bit. Then it will be easier to blend.

Step 4.

Taste and add honey if desired. Serve cold. You can also use other colors of watermelon, like yellow or orange, if you find them at your farmer’s market.

Step 5.

Freeze sorbet in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. Thaw at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes before serving to allow it to soften up.

Step 6.

You can use a whole watermelon that you cut up or you can buy it precut. It works exactly the same. And is so refreshing either way!
