Ingredients

  • 8-10 medium peaches
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Halve the peaches. Remove the pits. Roughly chop. (You'll have about 8 cups.) I leave the peel on.
  • Add to a medium pot set over medium heat with the water. Cover and bring to a simmer. Remove the cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the peaches are very soft and starting to break down.
  • Turn off the heat and let cool for 5-10 minutes.
  • Puree with an immersion blender or add peaches to a standard blender. Blend smooth. (If using a standard blender, leave the vent open so the steam can escape while you blend.)
  • Store in the fridge or serve warm.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
  • To freeze, portion into an ice cube tray. Freeze. Transfer frozen cubes to a freezer bag and freeze for up to 6 months. Thaw a few cubes at a time in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • You can use any variety of peach and you can use fresh or frozen. It will taste best with ripe peaches that taste good when eaten fresh, but it's very versatile.
  • Add 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, or 1/4 teaspoon grated fresh ginger or 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger.
  • Serve it as a puree in a bowl or a reusable pouch.
  • You can also mix it with plain yogurt or oatmeal if you prefer.
