Learn how to make quick tea sandwiches for kids to have at a tea party or a special lunch or snack. There are 6 filling options here, plus tips for cutting bread, which breads to use, and which tea to pair with the finger sandwiches.
Place the bread onto a cutting board. Use a 3- to 4-inch round cookie cutter to cut circles from the bread. (If the bread is at all stale, warm for 5 seconds in the microwave.) Set aside the rounds in pairs of two for each sandwich.
Add a thin layer of the spread to the bread on one side of each pair of rounds.
Add a thin layer of the filling (such as the cucumber, raspberries, or egg, depending) on top. For the peanut butter and jelly, add the jelly to the second piece.
Sandwich the rounds of bread together, pressing slightly. Serve with tea of choice (we usually do a little honey in warm water or chamomile.)
Notes
Use soft wheat or white bread for these finger sandwiches.
Choose one flavor to make or include a mix.
Use sunflower butter in place of the peanut butter if there are any allergy concerns, or use just jam.
Use a round cookie cutter to make the round sandwiches, or use the full slices of bread and simply cut into quarters or triangles.
