Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen peaches (about 2 medium fresh peaches)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup whole-milk plain yogurt

Instructions

  • If using fresh peaches, halve and remove the pits. Add the fruit to a blender with the lemon juice, if using, and puree smooth.
  • Place the peach puree into a small saucepan over low heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring regularly, until the puree starts to thicken. (Briefly cooking the puree intensifies the peach flavor.) Toward the end of cooking, when you stir with a spatula, you should be able to drag it through the pan and see the bottom briefly.
  • Turn off heat and let cool for 10-15 minutes. Sweeten to taste with honey (for kids over age 1) or maple syrup.
  • Divide the peach puree and yogurt among storage containers. Serve or store in the fridge and serve cold.

Notes

  • Store in airtight storage containers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
  • Serve in a bowl with a spoon or in a reusable pouch.
  • This is delicious with fresh in-season peaches but can also work with frozen peaches. If using frozen peaches, thaw them first.
  • To make this without a blender, simply dice the fruit and add to the saucepan with 1/4 cup apple juice or water and cook as directed, or until the diced fruit softens.
  • Omit the honey or maple syrup if desired. Avoid honey for kids under age 12 months.
  • Use dairy-free yogurt to make this dairy-free.
