Plain apple slices are always great, but these Chocolate Covered Apple Slices are a quick treat that is nutritious and so yummy. You'll be amazed at how far a few melted chocolate chips can go!
Line a baking sheet or plate with a piece of parchment paper.
Add the chocolate chips and coconut oil to a heat-safe bowl. Warm in the microwave for 1 minute and stir.
Let cool for at least 5 minutes so it's not blazing hot.
Meanwhile, slice the apples into thin slices. Discard the cores.
Dip each slice into the chocolate, using a fork to lift it out. Place onto the prepared sheet pan or plate.
Dip into sprinkles or minced nuts or shredded coconut (optional) and let harden.
Notes
If you have leftover chocolate magic shell, warm for about 60 seconds, stir, then drizzle and let set.
When dunking the apples, use a fork and let the excess chocolate drip off and drag the bottom of the fork along the side of the bowl to avoid much pooling of extra chocolate under each slice as you set them down on the parchment paper.
Use my favorite apple slicer to make the prep for this recipe easier.
Use dark chocolate or even an added-sugar-free chocolate if you prefer.
