Is it possible to practice intuitive eating and have a healthier relationship with food, while also wanting to lose or maintain your weight? We’re getting into this super common—and super complicated—question with Jessica Jones, RDN, co-host of the Food Heaven podcast.

For a refresher on the concept of Intuitive Eating, check out this post and Episode 29 of Comfort Food. In short, there are 10 principles of Intuitive Eating that help to explain how to think about the concept and how to put it into practice in our lives. They include: reject the diet mentality, honor your hunger, make peace with food, respect your fullness, and more. These really help to put the concept into context and give a much better idea of what to keep in mind as we eat and consider how we think about food.
Can Intuitive Eating and Weight Loss Goals Co-Exist?
We loved the piece Jessica wrote for Self.com about trying to balance intuitive eating with still wanting to lose weight—because this seems like such a common starting point for so many of us. Jessica shared what inspired her to write the article and the conclusion that she came to from her own experiences and from research into the topic.
