Frequently Asked Questions
You can serve them diced into small pieces for a baby over 9 months old or whole as a baby-led weaning food after about 6 months.
Sometimes, bready foods like pancakes, muffins, or toast can get stuck on the roof of baby’s mouth. So sit with them as they eat and do a quick finger sweep in their mouth to release the food. Otherwise, pancakes are easy to eat—especially the recipes shown on this page.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer in a single layer—or in multiple layers with parchment paper in between—for up to 6 months. Serve cold, at room temp, or warmed slightly, knowing they will be softer and easier to chew if at least slightly warm.
Best Tips for Success
- Serve pancakes diced into small pieces for a baby who has mastered their pincer grasp, which usually happens around 9 months when they start to be able to pick up small pieces of foods between their fingers.
- Serve whole small pancakes to babies as a baby-led weaning breakfast food.
- Top with applesauce, yogurt, or a very thin layer of nut butter or sunflower seed butter.
