After making Vanilla Yogurt and Lemon Yogurt, I wanted to make our other favorite flavored yogurt option: Peanut Butter Yogurt. This is so delicious and simple, and also packs extra nutrients including protein and beneficial fats. It’s a great way to serve peanuts to babies and toddlers, but is also just a yummy breakfast for kids at any age.

You can serve this plain, top it with fruit such as sliced bananas or berries, or even top with storebought or homemade granola. It’s fluffy, creamy, and has a slight peanut butter cup flavor, too.

Ingredients You Need

Here’s a look at the ingredients you need to make Peanut Butter Yogurt so you know what to have on hand.

Ingredients for peanut butter yogurt on countertop.
  • Yogurt: You can use plain whole-milk yogurt or plain whole milk Greek yogurt. It is recommended that toddlers consume full-fat dairy products to help with brain development, though this recipe will work with lower fat yogurt, too. You can also use vanilla yogurt if that’s what you have on hand or prefer.
  • Peanut butter: I prefer to use creamy unsweetened natural peanut butter in this recipe so the pure peanut butter flavor comes through—and so the mixture is as creamy and smooth as possible.
  • Honey or maple syrup: You can sweeten the yogurt mixture to taste if desired.
  • Vanilla extract, fruit, granola, optional as you like.

Ingredient Substitutions

Use nondairy yogurt to make this recipe dairy-free and try sunflower seed butter in place of the peanut butter as a nut-free option as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use powdered peanut butter like PB2 in this yogurt?

Sure, the texture won’t be exactly the same but you can stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons for flavor and added nutrition.

What is the texture of this Peanut Butter Yogurt like?

It’s creamy like Greek yogurt but a little extra fluffy. If you make it and then store it in the refrigerator, it can firm up just slightly (similar to how frosting can firm up if you put it into the fridge).

Is yogurt with peanut butter good?

If you or your family members enjoy the flavor of yogurt, this is delicious!

How to Store

Store Peanut Butter Yogurt in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. You can also freeze the mixture into popsicles for kids or as baby popsicles as another fun variation.

Best Tips for Success

  • Use natural style peanut butter to keep this lower in added sugar.
  • Use creamy peanut butter, instead of chunky, to help the end result be as creamy as possible.
  • Trade in another nut butter such as almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or cashew butter to vary the flavor and nutrition.
  • Top with sliced fruit such as bananas, berries, or mango. Or add granola (without whole nuts for little kids.) Or use as a dip for apple slices, banana slices, strawberries, or squares of dark chocolate.
  • This is a great option for serving peanut butter to babies.
