With a bright, fresh flavor and an ingredient list that’s packed with nutrition, these Raspberry Muffins are truly something special. If you (or your kids!) love raspberries, these are a must-make!
Raspberry Muffins
We love Strawberry Muffins, Blueberry Muffins, Chocolate Chip Muffins…and basically all of the muffins. And it was time to make a dedicated recipe for Raspberry Muffins—because they are such a delicious flavor and you can make them easily with fresh or frozen berries.
These muffins are incredibly moist from the inclusion of Greek yogurt and they have a super bright flavor from both the berries and fresh lemon. They are great right out of the oven or at room temperatures. And you can enjoy them at any time of the day.
We love these for Mother’s Day brunch or, if I’m honest, for any reason. (You may also like my Favorite Berry Muffins.)

Ingredients You Need
Here’s a look at the ingredients you need to make this muffin recipe so you know what to expect.
- All-purpose flour: I use a mix of flours here to get some of the benefits of whole grain flour and keep them light and fluffy.
- Whole-wheat flour
- Baking powder
- Baking soda: Check your baking soda before starting to bake to ensure that it’s fresh and active.
- Salt
- Whole milk Greek yogurt: I use plain, full-fat Greek yogurt here, but regular style yogurt would work, too.
- Sugar (or honey or maple syrup): I like using sugar in this recipe (and you do need some added sweetener to balance out the tartness of raspberries), but you can sub in honey or maple syrup if you prefer.
- Unsalted butter: You’ll want to melt this and let it cool slightly.
- Eggs: I use large eggs for baking.
- Vanilla extract
- Lemon juice and zest
- Raspberries: You can use fresh or frozen raspberries here according to what you have.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can make these with fresh or frozen raspberries. They work the same. The only difference is that the batter will be stiffer if you use frozen berries (the cold temperature will make the rest of the ingredients cold).
You can sub in diced strawberries or blueberries in this instead if you prefer.
How to Store
Once cooled, you can store these healthy Raspberry Muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the fridge for 3-5 days. Freeze cooled muffins in a zip top storage bag with as much air removed as possible for up to 3 months.
Thaw overnight in the fridge or in 15 second increments in the microwave, or at room temperature.’
Best Tips for Success
- Use fresh or frozen berries. (If using frozen berries, know that the batter will be stiff since the frozen berries will make the batter very cold!)
- Dairy-free: Use nondairy milk in place of the yogurt and neutral oil in place of the butter.
- Gluten-free: Use gluten-free cup for cup flour in place of the all-purpose and whole-wheat flour.
- Egg-free: Omit the eggs. Add ½ cup milk and increase the baking soda to 1 teaspoon.
- Mini muffins: Use a 24-cup mini muffin pan and reduce the baking time to 12-14 minutes.

Excited to try! Can I still bake them without baking powder? I ran out!
If you have baking soda use 1 teaspoon
Amazing! Made these with fresh picked raspberries- they were gone in a day!
Made them again and subbed lime juice/zest and added shredded coconut and white chocolate chips to the top- delicious!
Yummy muffins. I made them with gluten free flour, coconut oil, and coconut yogurt. They took a little longer to bake and it seemed like a lot of rasberries. Not sure if that was because of the gluten free flour or not. But non the less these are delicious and me and my toddler gobbled them up.
This is a fantastic recipe.
It came together in a flash and tasted delicious. I chopped up apple to add to the batter and used blueberries once. I always reduce the sugar to a little less than 1/4 which is perfect for our household.
Finding myself with 5lbs of blackberries, I needed some recipes quick. The kiddos are back to school this week and muffins are a favorite filling breakfast for us. I made this as written but replaced the raspberries with blackberries, the zest of two oranges and orange juice for the lemon, and threw in a handful of white chocolate chips. It was a winner and it’s a good thing I’ve got 4.5lbs of blackberries left because mom is having one for breakfast every morning too! My only question is, can the lemon/orange juice be mixed into the wet ingredients instead of added separately at the end? Felt like I needed to do a lot of extra mixing just to get the moisture incorporated that could have been avoided.
Wow, that’s a lot of berries! And sure, you can stir the juice in with the other wet ingredients.
Love these. Family favorite. Have you ever done them in an 8×8, similar to the blueberry cake recipe on the site? Wondering if it would work. Thanks!
Wow delicious!! I’ll be making these often.
Can I substitute with a lime??
If you like the flavor of lime that would likely work similarly.
Hi Amy, by far this recipe has been one of my favorite! The lemon zest adds so much flavor in conjunction with raspberries! We couldn’t stop eating them! I reduced the amount of sugar though (just a personal preference) and they turned out absolutely delicious! Thank you again!
I’m so glad!
I don’t have lemons on hand- will the recipe still work?
Totally will!
Hello! Thann you so much for delish recipes, my son loves them!
Can I substitute all purpoee flour in this recipe with whole wheat or it flour?
Hi- You’re welcome. Yes, you can use whole wheat flour. They will likely be finished baking 2 minutes sooner than the time listed. Enjoy!
These turned out delicious!! I made it for my 1 year old with very little maple syrup, no sugar and added more blueberries as the fruit filling. She loved it. The texture was very similar to store bought muffins without the extra sweetness and it was super fluffy. I would make this often, thanks a lot for this recipe.
I used parchment liners for the recipe and most of the muffins are sticking to the liners. Is there a way to help prevent this?
You could spray lightly with nonstick spray next time
Delicious and pretty easy to make. My toddler couldn’t get enough of them – thank you!!
I’m so glad to hear it!
These were delicious, and my 2 year old loved baking them with me! I did 1/4 cup of sugar since I used half blueberries that had a nice level of sweetness to them. Thanks for another great recipe!
