Choose the best kids apron for your junior chef to stay cleaner in the kitchen with durable and affordable picks for toddlers and big kids both.
Aprons for kid are a kitchen essential if you often have the littles with you cooking or prepping food. We’ve tried a lot over the years and I’m so happy to share my favorites today. These are great toddler aprons (including ones for one-year-olds) and big kid options options—and many will last from one kid to the next!
My kids are with me a lot in the kitchen, doing activities together, helping me to bake kid-friendly recipes (like cookies for the holidays and everyday snacks), and using their kids kitchen tools, so having a way to keep them a little cleaner is key for me.
(We also love using a learning tower to keep the kids safely at counter height while we cook.)

Best Tips for Choosing a Kids Apron
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when picking out an apron for your toddler or big kid. (P.S. Here are my favorite bibs.)
- Consider the material. Make sure you know if you want or are buying wipe-clean material or something like cotton that may require more dedicated stain removal.
- Check the size. If your kiddo is on the upper edge of a size, consider ordering up.
- Read the reviews as they can help you know if the apron you choose will be comfy for your kiddo (though I did my best to do that for you here!)
- Once you have an apron, wash it regularly as the longer food sits on them, the harder it can be to get it out.
TIP: You can literally just wipe the wipe-clean fabrics clean with a clean kitchen towel or sponge!
This is a fan favorite among my Instagram followers and for good reason. It has a soft-yet-waterproof fabric made from eco-friendly polyester that’s fused with a soft, yet waterproof layer. This means that the apron will stay dry and comfortable to wear.
(This is also a great bib since it covers the kids laps when they are sitting down!) It comes in two sizes—6m-3T and then preschool 3-5yrs so you can choose the one that works for your child.

We used this smock regularly for both kitchen activities and crafting with my middle kiddo and it was awesome. The wipe-clean (and odor and stain resistant) fabric is super easy to keep clean. It also washes up really nicely in the washing machine.
This smock is lightweight and comfortable for whatever messes the kids might get into! Fits ages 1-3 years and is priced under $10.
You can add your kiddo’s name to the modern and crazy cute apron and oven mitt sets from Minted. Love, love, love the range of designs and patterns they have to suit any style or color preference, and are under $50.

You know, sometimes the kids need an apron and a chefs hat, and an oven mitt…and these sets are super cute and very functional.
They are available in a range of designs and are meant for kids aged about 5-9 who like to cook and bake in the kitchen, for under $40.
Holy cuteness! With these cute dog and cat designs, plus others including Frozen, the Grinch, Harry Potter, and more, you are sure to find one that your kids adore in the selection at Williams Sonoma.
They are made from machine-washable 100% cotton twill and have velcro closure at the neck. Meant for kids about age 3-7 (as best I can tell from the measurements!) and priced under $30.
