With classic waffle texture and some yogurt in the batter for added nutrition, these fun Waffles Sticks are a toddler favorite. They are great to dip into yogurt, applesauce, or syrup, too!

My kids love my Yogurt Waffles and Protein Waffles, but what they love even more is when I turn their waffles into waffle sticks. They are fun to dip, fun to eat, and work as a baby-led weaning food as well as they do as a toddler and big kid breakfast!

Ingredients You Need
Here’s a look at the ingredients you need to have on hand to make Waffle Sticks so you know what to pick up from the store or have ready.

- Whole-milk yogurt: Plain Greek-style yogurt is the type that I use here, though you can also use regular yogurt if you prefer. I prefer yogurt made with whole milk since it helps us stay full a little longer.
- Milk: I use whole milk, but any type will work here, including nondairy milk.
- Butter: I use unsalted butter to add crispiness around the edges of the waffles as they cook.
- Eggs: I use eggs to help add tenderness to the yogurt waffles. You can use a favorite store bought egg replacer as needed, such as the one from Bob’s Red Mill. (I do not recommend a flax or chia egg here.)
- All-purpose flour: This type of flour results in light and tender waffles. Swap in whole-wheat flour if you prefer. The batter will be a little thicker.
- Sugar (optional): You can add a little sugar to sweeten the waffles very lightly. It’s optional.
- Baking powder: This ensure that the yogurt waffle batter cooks through and fluffs as it cooks. Make sure that yours is fresh.
- Maple syrup, butter, fruit sauce, yogurt, nut or seed butter, diced fruit (optional, for serving)

Waffle Sticks FAQs
Sure, you can use this method with my Vegan Waffles recipe.
Look for them to be golden brown and usually the waffle iron you use will either beep, click, or turn off a light. Read the manufacturer’s directions so you know what to look for.
I love the mini waffle maker from Dash because it cooks evenly and makes waffles that look like Eggo Waffles—which are a great size to cut into sticks.

How to Store
To store, let the Waffle Sticks cool on a wire rack, then store in a container in the fridge or in a zip-top bag in the freezer with as much air removed as possible.
Best Tips for Success
- Double the batch to make enough to stash in the freezer for future meals.
- Cut them into finger-size pieces so they are easy to pick up and eat.
- Pair with a toddler smoothie, protein shake for kids, or Blueberry Milk.
