These orange creamsicle freezer popsicles are super simple, but they have some vitamin C from fresh orange and some protein and probiotics from yogurt. I think it also helps that they are fun, which makes eating a little more appealing to little ones even when they aren’t feeling their best.
As most of you have probably heard me say by now, my girl got hit with the flu last week and was a seriously long week. And while she didn’t have much of an appetite, she was interested in one thing: freezer pops! We made these Fresh Orange Creamsicle Pops and she ate the entire batch, which was a relief, since she didn’t eaten much else for a full 7 days. It was so nice to know that she was getting a little bit of nourishment.
Apparently the flu’s been going around her classroom but I have to admit that at first I just assumed it was a virus with a high fever. (And oh man, those high 104/105 degree fevers are scary, especially in the middle of the night!) But when the doctor confirmed it 4 days after the first symptoms, I was at least glad to know why she was so lethargic. It seems like she gets hit with one major sickness each winter and while we love daycare for lots of other reasons, the sickness factor is a major downside.
It’s always been hard for me not to worry when my girl doesn’t eat a lot, even when she’s sick, but I’m getting better. After 3 years of being her mama, I know that liquids are the most important things. I know that she’ll eat a bit here and there if I give her good options. And I know that eventually she’ll get her appetite back as the illness moves out of her body. I definitely will miss all of the extra cuddles that I’ve gotten lately week, but it’s definitely been wonderful to have my energetic girl back.

Make these freezer pops for a sweet snack or dessert. They’re loaded with probiotics and Vitamin C to keep little bodies healthy.
- 2 medium oranges, peeled
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Mix all ingredients in a blender until very smooth. Pour into molds and freeze for 3-4 hours or until firm.
